Creating paintings is a fulfilling process. I find it fascinating how a simple palette of primary colours can evolve into an encapsulating scene.

I developed a fascination with the beauty of New Zealand's landscape while growing up and surfing in New Zealand. In particular the way man-made objects are placed within the natural environment, and the placemaking potential of the landscape. Compositionally my artworks have evolved into 'constructed landscapes' using a realism representational method to transport viewers into a constructed scene where they find some perceived meaning and association within an imaginative setting.

I believe to truly get an understanding of a place you need to go there, experience it, and have it affect you in person. To truly appreciate your surroundings you need to activate not just your vision but all your senses.
